Why Enroll in Our Striking Program?
Martial arts and kickboxing training delivers far more than punches and kicks. Here are four powerful reasons people of all ages join our program.
Physical Fitness
Child obesity is a real problem that we’re facing today. This is because of how more and more children are spending time in front of the TV, or playing video games and rarely take the time to play outside and sweat it out. Though, even if you’re blessed with a particularly healthy kid, enrolling them in a martial arts class is a good way to teach them a lot of things, with physical fitness being one of them.
Essential Life Skills
Another good reason to enroll your child in a martial arts class is to help them develop “life skills” — discipline, patience, confidence, mental awareness, self-control and so on. While you may already be teaching your child such things at home, it doesn’t hurt to have somewhere it’s reinforced. The many points you’ve raised at home will be driven even further, helping your child develop essential life skills as they grow older.
Self Defense
Not that we encourage fighting or anything, but your child needs to know how to, at the very least, defend him or herself. Your child will be taught how to handle conflicts, personal responsibility, and how to avoid engagements. Bullies will learn that what they’re doing isn’t good, and the bullied ones can learn how to defend themselves if need be.
Correcting Behavior Problems
If you’re a parent who wants to improve your child’s attention span, demeanor, self-control, respect for others, and confidence, then martial arts will help. It’s best to talk to the instructor first so they know beforehand what your child is like and what you want them to learn. If done correctly, your child’s behavior problems could be rectified before they become more severe.
Class Structure
We offer two distinct class formats to match your experience level and training goals.
Adult Striking
The foundation of our striking program. Learn punches, kicks, elbows, knees, footwork, and defensive movement. Classes include pad work, bag work, and partner drilling. No prior experience needed — this class is designed to bring you from zero to capable with clear, structured instruction every step of the way.
Adult Striking (Sparring)
Apply your skills in a controlled sparring environment. This class is for students who have developed a foundation in our standard striking classes and are ready to test themselves against a resisting partner. Proper protective equipment is required. All sparring is supervised by coaches and conducted with a mutual focus on learning — not ego.
What You Need for Class

Shin guards
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to spar?
No. Sparring is completely optional and is offered as its own separate class format. The standard Adult Striking classes are entirely drilling and pad work based — you will never be put in a live sparring situation until you choose to be. Many students train for months or years in our standard striking classes with no interest in sparring whatsoever, and get extraordinary results. The decision to spar is entirely yours to make when and if you are ready.
What equipment do I need?
For your first class, just bring athletic clothes and water — we will take care of the rest. As you continue training, you will want to get your own hand wraps and boxing gloves, which protect your hands during pad and bag work. If you decide to join sparring classes, you will also need headgear, a mouthguard, shin guards, and a groin protector. Our coaches can recommend quality gear at a range of price points. Do not let equipment hold you back from showing up — come try a class first.
What fitness level do I need to start?
Whatever level you are at right now is the right level. Seriously. We have had students start who have never exercised a day in their adult life and students who were already elite athletes — and both groups found exactly what they needed in our classes. The workout is scalable, the coaches are attentive, and no one is going to make you feel bad for being a beginner. The only fitness requirement is the willingness to show up and work hard.
Can I do this alongside BJJ training?
Absolutely — and we strongly encourage it. The combination of striking and grappling is what makes a complete martial artist. Many of our most dedicated students train both programs and find that each one makes the other better. Striking develops your stand-up awareness, clinch, and takedown defense, which directly improves your BJJ. And your BJJ game gives you the confidence and ground skills to make your striking even more dangerous. Talk to our coaches about how to structure a training schedule that lets you develop both without overtraining.
